Obituary

Ken Speer of Georgian Bluffs, passed away at Chesley Hospital.  Ken is survived by and was a loving husband for 67 years to Erma Speer (nee McCrabb). A loving Father to Don (Bridget), Wayne Speer, Allan Speer, and Marianne (Scott) Kononiuk (nee Speer). Proud Grandpa of Tyler, Dylan and Travis Kononiuk, Derek and Connor Speer, Andrew Speer and Caitlin Alga. Ken is a great grandpa to Caitlin’s children Charlotte, Harrison, and Grace Alga.

Ken was born in Arran-Tara Township surrounded by Speer family, six uncles and four aunts, predeceased by his parents Charlie and Grace, and his infant son Frank. Ken was raised on their Tara farm. He attended school at Halls corners and weekend dances at Baileys Hall, Ken raised his family and worked in Tara and Port Elgin most of his life with a stop in Toronto. Ken was a Diesel mechanic, worked for the Arran–Tara township roads, Milk transport driver and a dedicated member of the Tara volunteer Fire Department.

A Funeral Service for Ken Speer will be held at the Tara United Church, Tara, on Monday June 6, 2022 at 1 p.m. with visitation 1 hour prior beginning at 12 noon. Interment to at Hillcrest Cemetery, Tara.
