Obituary

 Mark Monaghan, loving husband, father, and grandfather, age 63, of Southampton, Ontario, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 11, 2024. He was born on August 13, 1961, in Brampton, Ontario to parents Joseph and Brenda Monaghan (nee Bignell).

Mark was a husband to Telena (nee Oussoren), father to Amanda, Michael (Cassandra), and Emily. He was a beloved grandfather to Cea, Rowan, and Walter.  A dog lover is an understatement, Mark was pup-father to Rosie, Desi, Bella, and his angel pups, Coco, Spencer, Bear, Freddie, KD, Gus, and Rambo. Mark was also grandpup-father to Winnie, Pete and Macaroni. Brother to Lyn and Ian (Odilia), nephew to Cathie and missed by his nieces, nephew, cousins and extended relatives. He leaves a heartbroken family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Monaghan and Brenda Monaghan.

Mark grew up in Brampton and attended grade school in both Bramalea and Brampton. He attended Central Peel High School and graduated from Brampton Centennial.  Mark had always loved sports and as a young man he played hockey, high school football and was a regular on the amateur body building circuit. Then later into adulthood he continued to enjoy playing hockey with the Newfie Hockey League in Brampton.

Mark had a diverse career primarily working within the printing industry of Toronto. Later he transitioned into working in construction insulation sales at Total R following the family’s move to Calgary in 2013. Mark continued working for Total R even after he and Telena moved back to Southampton, Ontario to be closer to the grandchildren and family.

Mark was known for his incredible dry sense of humour, dedication, hard work, persistence, and energy.  A connoisseur of old movies, history, sports of all kinds and golf. Oh, his love of golf – playing, watching, practicing, and getting ready for the annual Smokin’ Joe Golf tournament where he connected with long-time friends.

He loved to entertain and cherished time spent with family and friends, who will forever remember his love, humour, and the special moments they shared together. His children and grand-children, along with Telena were the great loves of his life. Taken far too soon he will be sorrily missed!

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 1:30 PM at the Southampton United Church, 18 Victoria St S, Southampton, ON.

Light refreshments to follow the service. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life and honor the legacy he leaves behind.
