Obituary

Alexander Daniel James Laverty passed away peacefully at the Southampton Hospital on Saturday September 3, 2022, at the age of 93. He is reunited with the love of his life, the late Kathleen Mary (nee Wright). Loving and proud father of Michael (Helen) of Langley, B.C., Patricia Bower of Waterloo, Paul (Joanne) of Alliston, and Maureen Belluz (Randy) of Fort Frances. Al will be sadly missed by his grandchildren: Graham (Lisa), Sharon (Chris), Lindsay (Chad), Christine (Andrew), David, Evan, Roy (Mara), Tanis (Ondrej), and Chris, and by his great grandchildren: Mark, Sean, Sarah, Julia, Lily, Heather, Violet, Bruce, Jasmine, Evan, Isaiah and Eloise. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Daniel & Dorothy and by his grandson Rick.

Al spent his working years as an electrical engineer and was always the handy man. He loved his family and took them on yearly camping expeditions, inspired a passion for reading, and supported lifelong engagement in sports (he retired from windsurfing at the age of 82).

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial to celebrate the life of Alexander Laverty will be held later – date to be determined.
