Obituary

“My partner, my love, my best friend Ed passed away Sunday evening.” Lea Brigden-Brintnell

On Sunday August 25th 2024 Edwin Nathaniel Brintnell, in his 87th year, passed away without warning.

Ed leaves behind his wife Lea/Lena, sister Marie (Bob) Sockett, sister-in-law Dorothy Brintnell, nieces and nephews, Kent, Kevin, Lori, Cheryl and their families.

Ed is predeceased by his parents Russell and Hilda, sister Luella, brothers Don and Fred, mother-in-law Carolyn Brigden and her sister Anne Hearn and husband Archie and Ed’s good friend Mike MacD.

Ed was gifted with hand-eye excellence: as a professional body mechanic, hunter, pool player and darter.

A self-taught carpenter, Ed loved challenges, His projects are not going to fall down: screws not nails and lots of them.  He created and donated the existing dart cupboards in the hall of RCL Br. 155 Southampton.  Ed represented Br. 155 at zone, district, and provincial levels in darts. Ed used a simple set of small darts that his mother had given him.  He threw them like a knife and they landed as though they had eyes. He liked surprising his opponents.

One of Ed’s greatest joys was to have one (or more) loyal pups by his side.  Beautiful dobermans, super guard dog Katie his german pinscher and lastly his beautiful little lap dog Mokey/Mocha and her buddy Spencer.

Ed made it through life with a wonderful sense of humour.  His favourite saying was “Never give up”

He never did. Right now he’s probabley saying” What the ___happened?”

Until we meet again.

Thank you to all of the responders and medical staff who gave every effort to bring Ed back to us.

A time to remember Ed and to enjoy his type of snack-sandwiches, will be held Friday September 6th, from 2pm to 4 pm at The Southampton Legion Branch 155, 13 Grosvenor Street, Southampton, Ontario.  There is a lift available.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Owen Sound Animal Shelter, the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, or to the charity of your choice.
