Larry DeMoor
October 8, 1948 – May 25, 2024 - Age 75

Obituary

Larry Dennis DeMoor, 75, of Port Elgin, passed away peacefully at Chapman House surrounded with love by his family, after a long brave fight with cancer.

Loving husband of 55 years to Linda (Brabaw). Predeceased by his son Jeff DeMoor, survived by his daughter Jennifer DeMoor (Thomas Walpole) and daughter in law Linda DeMoor (Arseneault). Cherised grandpa to Taran, Papa to Andrew, Cameron and Ryan.

Brother to Judy Roe (Gary), brother in law to Gary Brabaw (Gloria), Cheryl Poissant (Lynn), Dale Goetz, Wendy White (Randy), Cindy Beal (Girard), and mother in law Darlene Brabaw-Wood.

Predeceased by his parents, Frank and Leona DeMoor, father in law, Kenneth Brabaw and brother in law Ron Brabaw.

Uncle Larry will be missed by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Larry moved his family from Wallaceburg to Port Elgin in 1978 to begin his career at Ontario Hydro. He retired from OPG in 2010. He spent many years volunteering his time as the manager of the Port Elgin Bears and Lakeshore Winterhawks. He also assisted the Ralph’s baseball team and was the commentator for the Port Elgin Blue Devils. His car wash Lotsa Suds, sponsored a men’s slow pitch team and also the Blue Devils.

He was dedicated for many years to the Lake Huron Fishing Club and the Chantry Chinook Classic fishing derby. Larry loved fishing with his family and friends.

Larry will be sadly missed by a large amount of devoted and caring friends.

Our family would like to thank the staff at Mount Sinai, Princess Margaret and Southampton hospitals, Care Partners, Dr. Gleeba and Dr. McCulloch and all of the staff and volunteers at Chapman House.

A very special thank you to Dad’s guardian angel, Neil Kilburn.

A come and go gathering to Celebrate the Life of Larry DeMoor will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 1pm – 5pm at the Lakeshore Recreation Centre, 1177 Goderich St., Port Elgin.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Larry’s name to Chapman House or the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation.
