Obituary
Sein, Norah (nee Rayner), age 96 years, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2024 at the Southampton Care Centre in Southampton Ontario, with her loving family at her bedside. Beloved wife of the late Mani Sein for 53 years. Loving mother to Rod and his wife Patricia and the late Steven. Proud grandmother of Erik and Lucas. Predeceased by her parents Frederick and Ethel Rayner, sister Doris (Joe Cassidy) and sister Gertrude.
Norah grew up and attended elementary and secondary school in Palmerston, Ontario. She spent all of her 96 summers at her family’s cottage in Southampton. She loved the cottage and it was the highlight of her year to get the cottage opened up and to spend time there. She had a passion for gardening and the gardens at the cottage were proof of this. She met her husband Manivald at one of the Dance Pavillions that were common back in 1940’s and 50’s. She and Mani married in 1954 and they settled in Toronto. She worked for Bell Canada prior to her and Mani starting a family. Once Steven and Rod came along she was a busy mom and homemaker. She lived most of her life in Toronto and summered in Southampton.
She returned to Palmerston later in life and spent a few happy years at Royal Terrace prior to moving to her favorite place Southampton and residing her last years at the Southampton Care Centre.
Norah was very social and enjoyed chatting with friends and neighbours that would drop by the cottage or to her home in Toronto. She enjoyed going out to lunch with her girlfriends and was a great hostess for countless dinner and dance parties she and Mani would host at their Etobicoke home. She was a devoted mother to Steven and Rod and a doting Grandmother to Erik and Lucas. And the very favorite person for her Grand-dog Jack.
Norah’s family greatly appreciates the loving care she received from the wonderful staff both at the Southampton Care Home and Royal Terrace, Palmerston and the visits from her special friend Carrie.
Cremation has taken place. Interment of ashes in the Palmerston Cemetery, Palmerston, Ontario on Friday July 12th for family, followed by a celebration of life on Saturday July 13th at 2PM at her cottage in Southampton for her family and friends. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
